SAILFISH IN 50FT

Fathers day = the wife and all children must go fishing with Dad.

The plan was to have a bottom fishing contest vs. the Sea Monkeys(22 sailfish Bay).

After a slow start at the Chas 60, we moved back inshore 3 miles to anchor-up and see what happens (remember it was a little bumpy and my girls are 8 & 10)

About 2:30 the two boats could not keep a pogie in the water. Kings, Dolphin, spanish, Sharks and Finally the highlight and last fish was the 40 +/- LB sail on a double pogie. The fish Ran, Jumped and finally just circled the boat until I could Bill’um and get the release. Nothing will cure seasicknes for MOM like a billfish in the little boat.

Fathers day could not have ended up any better

On a side note, I am now 3 for 3 on getting checked by DNR at the Jettys. They seemed to understand and just did the quick look-over.

What a fantastic way to spend fathers day. I bet there will be some girls looking forward to fathers day next year. Congrats on the sail.

my friend and neighbor rob kinneman caught a sail at chas 60 about 4 years ago . he has passed away since, shot to death in his own home in mount pleasant . they caught the bastard that did it and we still see his parents every now and then when they come to check on his house. good job on the sail !!!

clansea, did you know that the sorry bastard that shot Rob hung himself in jail?I guess it has close to a year now

Congrats*, Madbanana.Looks like your a good family man.I caught my first sail in 65ft,just past where Chas 60 is now located. That was in July of 1975.Fishing in 30-80ft is red-hot right now,as you saw.We caught a 33# king 3NM off the beach Monday PM.Also,I like your name.I don’t subscribe to the old “Banana Curse”,either.I always eat a couple during a fishing trip and don’t think I’ve had a better season,so far.:sunglasses:

Thanks for the kind words

My Story:
The boat is actually named after my children:
The “Mad” Maddy
and The Anna “Banana”

It helps that the boat is yellow

My wife’s story:
Being the only male in the family, makes me the MadBanana

FYI
Bananas where eaten on the boat and we use banana boat suntan lotion

3-3 is pretty bad, last summer i was checked twice in 48 trips. so far this year, its 9-20 from not only DNR but Coast Guard as well.

i think DNR is a lot like homeless folks. the second time we were pulled i gave the officer a fish, now every time he sees me, we get pulled, and i have to give him another fish. that cuts into my december and january supper.

i know i’m sexy but, dang, give a brother a break.
