I am also Airforce and drove by hooker lake so i know where the spillway is. Where is the best place to cast for mud minnows?

Franky, I’m still trying to figure out for flounder myslef.
Allen, I would say the spillway would be the better bet for castnet
Word gets around fast. Haha
Athon08,
I’ve had good luck with flounder on base by bouncing mud minnows off the bottom. If you come in the base on the North side via Red Bank just follow it down until you run into the pier where you have to go left or right, turn left and go over the tracks and directly to the right you’ll see a concrete wall running out into the Cooper. I usually just park in the grass or by that swing gate at high tide. I usually just walk up and down that wall bouncing it off the bottom.
Does look like word gets around fast, if anyone catches the ladyfish that are in Hooker Lake, cut it up and put it on a string and put it in the water by the rocks at the mouth of the spillway, then you’ll catch plenty of crabs too.
I don’t mind going to work but this sitting here for 8 hours waiting to go fish is bull.
Thanks Jerladd, i’ll give it a try. What tide?
Incoming or outgoing. Outgoing usually works the best but you can catch them at either. I haven’t had too much luck if it’s high tide and I pull the trap. The water level needs to be lower for them to find it and swim in it.

Thanks for the info Jerladd, I was looking at that wall on Google earth, just didn’t have time. I caught about 50 minnows or baby mullet in the cast net at bushy last night and went lookin for flounder. Lost a few and ended up with a red.
