Saltwater ponds in the winter

I’m thinking about trying to fish some saltwater ponds that I have access to thinking that the fish won’t be as much in a “winter pattern” if they are trapped. Does anyone have any advice for this time of year ?? Would I still be able to catch flounder since they would trapped and couldn’t move offshore ?? Thanks

If there is a in flow there’s an out flow and they swim right out. I was fishing a salt pond that had trout in it and they disappeared once it got cold. But they were are all dinks.

Those smal saltwater ponds can be a blast in the spring summer and fall. Just fish small live shrimp (about the size of your pinky) under a popping cork and you can catch all sorts of species

Consider and fish a saltwater pond as a “flat”. Unless it is locked with no flow. Trout show up in spring on flats around 74 degrees+ . Around 80+ they leave during the heat of day and bite well in the am. Try to find the in/flow/outflow areas and they will hang out there. Look for bridges or drainage pipes. Same for reds and flounder. Then post your catch.

Good advise

I’ve caught more flounder out of retention ponds and old rice fields than in the creeks. My go to for them is a double rigged white curly tail grub. First couple hours of incoming have done best for me. Always a good bite or nothing.
