Im getting ready to put a trolling motor on my boat. it will see some saltwater use but not a whole lot. I will wash it really good afterwards. Will a freshwater unit hold up? Whats the difference anyway? im looking at a Minn Cota powerdrive with a composite shaft anyways.
Get the saltwater Rip Tide if you are going to be in salt water at all. I have used freshwater models (both brands) and the life is about 2 years in my experience. I am going into my 10th year on my riptide hand controlled. This is only my opinion but is based on experience.
my rip tide is on its 9th year. my 2nd yr w it and have had only minor repairs. there are very few differences but they are important ones. if you are going to be fishing in the salt all the time make spend the extra money. it will be worth it.
