saltwater vs freshwater fishermen

Is it just me or has anyone noticed that saltwater people are nicer, on the water, that fresh. And that some will slow down or wave or talk and other won’t.
I don’t think its a class thing or the boats, maybe a bass tournament mentality…
Seems to me salt-water people are more repectful, especially to kayakers.
And DNR are a bunch of cowboys that aught to slow down:smiley:

In my experience, there’s no freshwater/saltwater dividing line when it comes to dumbazzes…you’ll find equal amounts wherever you go.

Sadly, common courtesy is hard to find nowadays.

I agree with Cut’s theory that Salt Water Boaters are nicer and have more manners. It is the rare Salt Water boat that does not slow down when passing me in the yak, while fishing freshwater events it is rare for a Fresh Water Boat to slow down. I have had more Fresh Water guys try to see how close they can get and don’t even care what they are doing.

So you I do agree there are idiots everywhere there tends to be more on the Fresh Water.

Eagles may soar, but weasels never get sucked into jet air intakes

I took my kayak out for the 1st time the other day, doing a little fishing in Archer’s Creek in PR. My wife was out there as well just paddling around. We hung to the sides and I must say everyone was courteous except one…the Coast Guard Auxilary Patrol boat. Go figure. I thought it was fun riding the waves. I have done the w/w kayak thing a couple of times many years ago.

I always try to slow down for yaks, especially because down here they are most likely rental yaks with tourons on board. With as fast as the river runs at times, dumping a yakker could be bad. So I just idle past, then kick it when I’m clear.

Remember, common sense ain’t so common.

That sandbar wasn’t here last time…
