Saltwater washdown brands-recommendations

I seem to run through these every couple of years. Back in the day these used to be rebuildable but not so much these days. I have been using the Jabsco but considering making a change to see if I can find something with longer life span. Any one using Shur Flow or Sea Flo? Any others with more longevity?

Unless you use a hand pump. I think any electrical pump in the salt won’t last over a few years!

Washdown pumps don’t seem the last long.
Rusty within a few months die within a few years.

You can try soaking the new one in a protectant like Boeing T-9 or Yamashield.

Old boat came with a Johnson, replaced with a Shur Flow I think. Lasted 3 years and was still working when I sold the boat.

Get the 70 PSI 7gpm pump or as close to it. Makes a big difference in performance.

Started looking into the replacement a little bit closer. As it turns out the new pumps from Jabsco now come with a three-year warranty. Considering their cost was the same as their competitors but with the additional warrantee I went back with one of these. Looks like the unit that I have that failed has a dead short. One thing I noticed is the wires that connect to the pressure switch are under a cover but the cover itself is not waterproof. The wires that connect to the switch are just open spade connections. Even after I bypassed these two connections the old pump still would not work but I can’t help but think the corroded connections may have contributed to the failure of the motor and the dead short. With the replacement that I installed I did spray these connections with corrosion protectant to help extend their lifespan. I kept my receipt this go-round as well as the box, if I have a failure between now and year three at least I know I can get a replacement free of charge.

I have a northern tool, North Star 5.5 gpm at 60 psi pump, less than 150$ for 5 years now. I took cover off of switch and filled with silicone and most importantly, have a small bladder tank(pvc lined). It works great, no pulsing/dribbling, shoots a stream 30 ft. It is used for salt water, mounted next to engine in a 29 phoenix that gets regular use. Aggravating to be on boats with blood all over and I can pee better than most wash downs. This combo is great and has held up well.
