I was anxious get back out there after catching a few early last week, so I put in for a couple of hours both Fri and Sun evening. Hooked a decent fish Friday that pulled into some trees and broke the line. Other than that, the only bites were from some jackfish.
Beautiful, relaxing evening both times and with the fishing being so slow I took to taking out the phone and get a few pics of the wildlife.
Had this guy watching me fish for about 15 minutes before he figured out I was using artificials and took off. Anyone know what kind of owl this is?
Shortly after that I had a couple of these guys come right at me as I sat still and drifted right into them. This one came within 5 or 6 feet of me before turning away and saying goodbye with a whopping tail slap a couple of seconds after taking the second pic.
Heading out Wed eve with some guys from work and give it another try.
We went out fri evening as well and the bite started out slow until about an hr before dark. Then action turned on real quick and lasted about an hr. First fish hit a big gizzard and was just shy of 10#. They proceeded to get smaller…lol…with most in the 18-21" range. Did land 2 others around 7#. All fish came on live bait except one of the 7# fish hit a fluke after dark. Probably caught around 20 fish. Nice evening sitting on spotlock in the river.
Tim I have heard alot of people talking about the owls lately. Seems they hace never seen so many as they are seeing now. Even had a buddy almost hook one when it snatched a couple freelined herring last week.

Barred owl. Lots of em around. I’ve fed em trout guts and dead herring before. He would wait in the tree until I threw the guts on the bank and he would swoop down to get it. We could do with less beavers IMO.
I would have to say the guys from work coming out Wed agree with you guys. At first they didn’t seem very interested, but I could tell how excited they got when I told them of all the beaver up and down the river when I went out. 2 are out buying kayaks now.
Can’t wait for them to see for themselves. They are going to be so excited!
I too, agree with steelytom & COOLBREEZE. I could stand to see more beaver. Actually, it’s been so long since I’ve seen a beaver, I could barely remember what they look like. Thanks to Tim’s photos, they’re just as I remember, furry & wet.

No wonder there are not many fishing reports from you guys. I did not realize it was open season on beavers. Well, happy hunting and may God Bless you with more fur than you can handle. HAHAHA!
