Saluda River Tues Eve 6/10

I decided to drop the yak in last evening and fished the last couple of hours of daylight. Wasn’t expecting much after getting skunked on my first trip this year last week, but this time the fishing was much better… probably helped that there weren’t 100’s of wounded herring floating down the river this time.

No big fish, but picked up 4 from about 22"-25" casting jerk baits.

Tim, that sure looks like it would be a lot of fun, but I think I’m getting too old to try something that new or expand my horizons that far.

The second photo looks like a fluke to me, not a jerk bait.

With the split shot on the nose of a fluke it pretty much becomes a “soft” jerk bait and loses it flutter action a fluke would normally have. Also there is alot less pause using this method than you normally would use pretty much becoming a jerk bait.

even without a shot on it I’ve always considered a fluke in the category of soft jerk bait… Since I didn’t say “soft” jerk bait though, I can see how it would sound like I was referring to a stick type bait
