Made my first '09 trip in the Saluda this morning. Put in about 6:30 and paddled to spot. Made the first cast and the cork went down and the drag started peeling off about 10 sec after hitting the water. Nice size fish pulled me around for what seemed like forever, but was probably just a few minutes before getting hung up in a tree and snapping the line.

Paddled back up to the same area and continued to catch/miss fish in that area until I ran through my 1 1/2 dozen herring in a little over an hour. After that first hook up all of the fish were small with nothing even close to a keeper.
