Saluda River

Anyone know a guide that fishes Saluda River?

Go up to better bait and tackle. There are 2 guides that come through there daily. One is trevor (not sure of his last name) and then there is another that comes as well that I am not familiar with. Tell them you are looking for a saluda river guide and they should be able to put you in contact with someone…

I saw pictures of a 41" that the DNR shocked up in the LSR this year. Tagged and released.

I didn’t know Trevor guided, but that fool somehow has access to parts of the river we only dream of.

A friend from work fished the Saluda last Friday. This is what he caught. Bottomed his 30lb. scale, 37" long. He’s looking for a taxidermist. Any suggestions I can forward to him?

Congrats to your buddy on a beautiful fish. Not trying to ruin his moment or start a long back and forth discussion, but they are making some great replica mounts these days.Take pics and measurements is all you have to do,and then you can release the fish to fight another day.Just a suggestion for the future.Otherwise, great fish and congrats once again.I am definitely envious. As far as a guide,I’ve had friends say that Frank’s Fly Arts is pretty good if you’re into fly fishing or using artificials with spinning gear.

If a 37" long post spawn striper bottomed his 30 lb. scale, he probably needs a new scale.

Dreher Island Taxidermy mounted my 50 lb’er and several 30+ lb’ers and did a very good job.

Maybe he doesn’t and I am getting him confused with someone else. There are actually 2 guys named trevor that fish the river I think, could be wrong there as well…lol…but yes “that” trevor has some good access points, but it also helps when u got a jet foot.

I could see that fish going low 30s, it Def has the head/body for it. Only takes just 31# to bottom out a 30# scale:stuck_out_tongue:… I don’t get caught up in lengths because I have seen fish weight 15+# difference and be within a couple inches (less than 40"). That fish may have been a male (yes I know that is kinda reaching…ha) an still be full of sperm, or it could have never dropped her eggs. Some striper don’t drop their eggs every year. Their body will absorb them back if they don’t. Or it could be a resident fish and has yet to find water warm enough to spawn in, so there is no guarantee that it’s a post spawn.

Either way great fish. I would suggest Ravens taxidermy in prosperity. Amazing job, I haven’t seen better work anywhere. Shoot me a text Bob if u need their number or u can Google it…

I never saw the scale or the fish, so I’m just going by what he told me. Nice fish, no matter how much it weighed.:sunglasses:

And like Murraymakers signature says:
