Saluda turbines

I’ve been hearing tales of behemoth striper lurking at the top of the saluda right behind the turbines. Any truth to these tales? I know you can’t get up there anymore, I was just wondering if anybody had any stories/pics of the beasts that lie just out of reach

My grandpa used to catch some monsters up there. I’ll see of I can find Se pictures. I bbelieve his biggest was around 35 lbs but he caught multiple that size

Most of the biggest ones I’ve caught (4 over 40)or have heard about have come well downstream from the dam. Not saying big ones aren’t there, just that they are spread out all up and down the river.

I used to tie up right behind the turbines - literally! Never caught anything much other than 16-20 inch fish. Caight lots but no size. Back when I was in high school…ahhhh, the good old days.

Any clue on the penalty for sneaking up there?

Trespassing in a so called “high risk” terrorist area isnt something I would want to do hoping for a small fine or slap on the wrist. It would be the same as breaking into SCEG…lol…

The guard shack is literally like 30-40yrds away from the river and only thing inbetween the 2 is a nice grassy area. There are people there 24/7. You would look like a marshmallow in a bag of chocolate chips as soon as you passed the cable…ha

Heard if you work at the plant they will allow you to fish off the bank there but they wont even allow you to bring your family.

Look at the TN rivers. In the summer time where are they catching the big cows??? Right behind the dams…just saying…I heard rumors of 2 around 40# caught by the same guy within a couple wks, but that was a couple yrs ago around the cable and he wasnt using herring.

Pretty sure that is considered a fish sanctuary so if the DNR showed it’s more than a little fine! Lose of fishing license for at least a year…
