My wife and I had big plans for a Sunday filled with sheepshead and bull reds (hopefully). I got maybe 100 yards from the house when a grinding sound coming from the trailer let me know that wasn’t happening. I knew immediately I had a bad bearing and was frustrated knowing we were going to miss a nice day on the water. Fortunately changing out the bearings wasn’t nearly as bad as I always thought it would be (I never had to change them before). You can see from the picture I avoided a potential worse day with how bad the outer bearing was tore up. If there’s anyone intimidated about changing bearings like I was, check out the video in the link. It’s a short and to the point video on how to deal with trailer bearings. Finished up with the trailer early afternoon and decided there was still time for a late afternoon of fishing. Launched out of bushy park. I didn’t catch a thing, but my wife not-so-humbly put two reds, 17" and 22", and a nice 18" flounder on the boat. Ended up being a good day after all.
Good work! Re: the bearings, I have made it a point to take my trailers over to Charleston Trailer annually to have them check the bearings. Its easy peace of mind, only takes a few minutes and I know they are gonna try to upsell me on something I don’t need. I can and have done it myself but I have enough #$%#@ going on
A real man would have his wife fix the bearing while you relaxed.LOL I say that as i clean house and do the wash.Wonder what the wife wants for dinner???
