Classic!

We have all been there. If not, stop laughing, you will be.

I was wondering about this the other day as well. We were heading over there and things got skinnier than expected quickly. I decided to back out and head elsewhere. Is there a best side to stick to like closer to the fort? following around Morris closer approaching from the submerged jetty?

you talking about the one in between Morris and James Islands (or at least the spit of land connecting Ft Sumter to James)? if so then swing Ft Sumter wide, like you are going towards the front side of Morris, then turn to starboard when you can almost make a beeline to the back side of Morris…water is deeper closer to that back side of Morris…

I was about 20 yards to the port side of the range tower heading at Morris. Saw some other boats coming across, but couldn’t tell if they were just up on plane and that’s why they could get through or if I was in a bad spot. Didn’t want to take a picture like claim’s. At least not that day!

That life jacket is great.

Any waterman that says it’s never happened to him, will lie about other things.

We had passed the area the day before on a higher tide and it was skinny. Day this happened, I was on the same trail line when The Warden said “That looks shallow - you sure about this?” I said we were on the same line yesterday and about that time the boat came to an abrupt stop.

The Warden said “I told you!”

My son asked “What are you going to do?”

I said, “Have a sammich.”

(I did get sand in my thermostat(s) and I replaced the impeller as a precaution…still, I don’t recommend getting stuck in sand)

I appreciate your humility. I got us stuck near Sol Legare a few weeks ago. First time my brother had ever been on my boat. Tried to convince him most trips don’t go that way, and at least he wasn’t there the time I dumped the boat on the concrete at Wappoo Cut. That made him laugh. Point is, sometimes stuff happens.

I don’t call her The Warden for nuthin. Well earned. BTW…her other nickname is “The Fun Canceller”. I’m always asking her why she hates fun. All I get are eye rolls.

Bart…I so deserve my pic of shame…I’ve laughed at too many people stuck off Crab Bank and between Hog Channel and the IOP going to Sullivans. I was due.

When my oldest was at CofC, he would often go to the little beach across from the DNR station at Ft. Johnson. He would walk across that sandbar to Ft. Sumter. It always tickled him to tell people he “walked” to the fort.

Anyone who says they have never been grounded is lying or has simply done very little boating.

There’s a thread on Boat life Charleston about a 42 foot Sea Ray hitting the rocks last night. Might still be out there. Anybody got any info?
