SANDBAR IN FRONT OF SULLIVANS ISLAND

Notice to anyone that goes out there. The rocks and the sandbar are almost connected now. There is very little room between the end of the rocks and the bar. Saw SEVERAL boats hit the rocks on Saturday. Also since it is almost connected now, at low tide you can barely navigate out of there. Saw some boats that were “stuck” until the tide came back in.

Im thinking about putting in at shem creek and heading over towards sullivans this weekend to a few spots that my buddy told me about. With you saying this, it has got me kinda worried about hitting the rocks or the bar. Where is this exactly? I have never drove my boat in that direction so I think this information would nice to know, ha. Thanks for your help in advance

Just go out at low tide and scout the area and if you are not sure then go somewhere else. Don’t just trust what someone says on the internet. The area in question is in front of Station 28-30. You would have to go underneath the bridge that connects Sullivans Island and Isle of Palms. The area I am talking about has become the new go to spot for several people over the past couple of years.

Yep, noticed that when we were out there last Fri. Made sure we got out before the tide got too low and still had to hug the sandbar to keep off the rock jetty.

that didn’t take long! Was wondering if Irene would help or hurt that. So next anchor beach party in, say 25 years?

It was even closer to being connected this weekend.
