Thinking about going to Sanibel/Captiva for the first time. Any suggestions on accomodations, guides, restaurants would be appreciated.

Went a couple of years ago but did not do any fishing. I highly recommend a self-guided kayak tour around Sanibel, very peaceful and saw tons of wildlife. Never seen so many HUGE mullet in schools of 1000’s. We were only there for a couple of days and stayed in a very nice/new La Quinta.
Beautiful place, expensive and high end. Had the kids there last Jan fished the inlets and all the Spanish,Blues, and huge Lady Fish you want.Plenty of Reds,Trout on the back side up on the flats, we just drifted and caught Trout corking Scrimp and sighted an occasional Red. Sheepshead on the pilings and bridges in ICW. If it warms enough I heard they sight Snook along the beaches early morning and late evening.
Go to Cabbage Key for lunch, and watch out for the Mullet boats they are crazy and don’t mind crowding you.
Or just follow a guide around.
Just kiddin,have a great trip.
P.S. Btw traffic is HELL on both Islands, might cosider staying off Island as it is like a lot of places with all the Snowbirds doin their thing.
My old business partner grew up there and ran Sanibel.com for many years. Shoot me a PM if you want him to call you.

I too am in St. James City. Love the area. Going down end of next month. Recommend a guide to fish San Carlos/Pine Island Sound. I think there’s still a snook closure. Suggestions: Cake at the Bubble Room on Sanibel. Look at staying at Tween Waters.
Have fun- it’s a great area. Been going there since '83.
i went down there last year around spring and went to the baitbox and picked up some shrimp and then headed over to the national bird refuge place and there r some like little bridges that the water washes through, this guy was catchin tons of saltwater catfish, while i just picked up like 2 redfish around the mangroves… so if u wunna go somewhere on land, id recomend fishing the edies at the refuge…
Idk bout the tarpon down there but if u hit em the right time of year, they are everywhere…
i am heading down to Palm beach on Thurs and fishing sat and sun offshore and might go for some snook if we can get em to bite
but traffic gets really bad… so look out
