Is the water warming up on the lakes? I will be down the middle of next week through the weekend, trying to see if the fish are starting to stage for the spawn. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks:smiley:
You fishing the BFL?
No, just coming down to spend the weekend with my dad and some friends. We try to make it an annual trip there. There will be 9 or 10 of us staying at Hill’s Landing.
It is still cooler than normal, but warming and still pretty muddy. Given a bit of sun shine, the coves may provide some faster action. The Diversion Canal temp is hovering around 53 F and they are pulling water across Russellville flats about half the day.
Got two reputable reports of the large ladies moving shallow in the lower lake in the last day or two. kind of makes sence with the rising water temps.
I was on Moultrie yesterday and the fish are beginning to move into the shallows in the afternoons. We found temps that topped 64F in the backwater.

Thanks for the info. I will be there Wednesday afternoon through Sunday, I will post a report when I get back. I plan on staying in the lower lake as much as possible. Do the BFL’ers stay in the upper lake or do they run to the lower? I know they can go anywhere, but did’nt know if they would stay close to take-off.
The travel anywhere they can snatch a limit. Winning catches have come from the lower lake one year and the the upper the next year. Weather can have some effect on where they go, but if the tournament starts at John C. and the fish are bitting in Pinopolis Cove, there will be one of those guys fishing there within an hour or two.
