Sat 11/2-3 report

Sat 11/2
Fished sat with a buddy and Lakefan5150. Very nice morning after all the rains friday night. Had plans to run above kempson but was worried about muddy water from the rains so started out in Beaverdam in the LS. Didn’t have the complete spread out yet and had a keeper in the boat. Fish started schooling a little in this area and picked up a couple more.

I had already planned to move around some today to try and locate fish in multiple spots. Left there and ran up the LS to around the rock wall. Again fish on immediately. Pulled a little while longer and picked up another. Time to move again.

This time we picked up and ran to blacks bridge. wanted to check out a bait hole in the area and it was full. Decided to pull around the area and ended up with 4 more.

Great day on the water with new and old friends. Rob, Thank you for coming and hope you enjoyed yourself. You are welcome on the boat anytime. Ended up with 9 keepers, but one was a 21" SKINNY fish and got to go back to fattin up. Nice to see no short fish today.

Sun 11/3
Fished with Lawcrusher today and his better half. Again another beautiful morning. Was expecting nasty winds but had a glassy lake to start out with. Again started in Beaverdam. (I can’t go past this area and not try it. I fish it alot if you can’t tell). Quickly had a double on that produced 2 keeps. pulled the area a little more but started to notice alot more gar in the area than usual and eventually pulled up and made the move.

Next stop was mouth area of Indian crk. This area was DEAD. Very small amount of bait and had zero activity. I don’t think we even had a small pull back. Pulled up to make another run.

Ran to the BS a little above blacks. Pulled the banks and started picking up some fish here and there. Pretty spaced out but most fish were coming in the mouths of insets/coves. Picked up and ran to the Bush and found some nice fish there. continued on up the river aways a put a few more in the boat. Ended the day with the transom rod going for a ri

If you still have room, I would be interested…

She’s 32yrs old, her go go power is 33yrs old(but did have some surgery back in 98). Yes she leaks, yes the bilge pump will kick on but she will catch fish and get you back to the dock…lol… I will save the gilligan’s island stuff for when your out on her on sunday…ha

Chip, my first was a 1972 Viper tri-hull. Paid $500 for her with the engine. Replaced the floor, fixed the engine (which did still run) and that boat was on the IRL every weekend. Took it offshore at Port Canaveral and to the Keys lobstering. I am spoiled by our current boat. No worries! Looking forward to catching some Sunday.

What an incredible morning on the water. Beautiful weather, great company and excellent fishing. I cannot thank Murraymaker enough for the experience. If you have never fished with this guy, you are certainly not as good as you could be . Why this man is not a full -time professional guide I do not know. Super cool guy with extensive knowledge of the sport and the species. Learned a lot , had a lot of fun and made some good friends . I appreciate the opportunity and the invite and look forward to doing it again!

I’m surprised I didn’t run into yall today. I was headed back down from Kempson’s around 10ish after only getting 1 24 inch keeper and 2 shorts. Ended up with 7 keepers for the day. Report is on the MSC forum… Glad yall had a good time as well!

Rob, thanks for the kind words but those are a little strong…lol… not ready for any title like that by no means.

James you went past us when we were sitting in between bush and blacks. I waved but it looked like u kinda either looking down or doing something to electronics. Was interested to see your report to see if I had struck out by not going up there, but looks like it all worked out for the best.

Thanks for the report. I almost didn’t read it because it says “Posted - 10/31/2013 : 10:43:25 AM” so I thought it was an old report. Strange…
Gonna get after them this coming weekend so info like this is very valuable- even if it does seem like they are scattered- at least they appear to be up on my end of the lake.

Chip, I was just trying to butter you up a little to get a good price on those reels! HAHA Let me know if they are ready to go and I will come by and pick them up (if they are still for sale)

~Rob

Thanks for the report Chip!

This year I think I am going to give the creeks a try. Where do you buy your bait at for that part of the lake? I was thinking of putting in at Big Mann’s, is there a better spot to put in and get bait in the morning?

Thanks!

I am loyal to Ned (old better bait building). He plans on staying open all yr and I said I would come there even though I am fishing the top of the lake. So I get my bait there. He is also keeping gizzard shad there all through out the winter.

Most of my larger fish this weekend seem to come on shad. So anyone reading this who wants to fish shad this yr go get bait from them. The more people that come by just insures they will stay open through out the winter. The plan is to have the big gizzards in there as well this yr. They also are keeping herring as well. The last couple weekends they have had some super nice dollar bill size herring mixed in. These are super nice people who cater to the fisherman.

Rob if your interested in those 2 reels I am more than willing to sell them. Its tourny season. Everything I have is for sale…hahah… both for 100$ or will put line on them for 120$ for both. They are ready now just no line on them. And if anything goes wrong with them within 6months bring it back and I will fix it for free.

come one man … great guy (Chip) … great ride … great fishing … don’t believe me … here’s the evidence …

Nice day out on the lake …

with a little bent rod …

and a few willing dinner guests …

ends up with an opportunity to pass along good information to the next generation …

Great time … thanks again, Chip, for taking us for the ride … we really feel a whole lot better about pulling boards now … anytime we can return the favor - let us know …

All true, I started fishing for striper about the same time as Chip. His catch rate puts me to shame. Also makes me want to start fishing mornings instead of nights. I’m hoping to start fishing more morning this winter, but I will need my boat back first. Finally broke down and took it to a professional.

Thanks again Chip! Had a great time, and looks like we will be getting some more boards to do it on our own.
