Fished with my friend John and his 9 yr. old son, Adam. We were in the 21st. annual striper tournament & picnic. Put in at Hilton about 6:30 or so, with some drizzle. That stopped almost right away and it turned into a nice day for fishing. Nice & comfortable. Bites were slow.
I was first with a big 13" monster. A while later another rod went down & Adam caught his first striper ever. Not huge at 19", but he had fun reeling it in. John caught a 17" a little bit later. (and yes, we had to measure every one) Adam’s eyes stayed glued on the sonar, telling us when there were fish under the boat.
We went to the weigh in a bit after 12:00. Biggest fish was a little over 9 lbs., caught by a young man on striperskiff’s boat. It made me feel better that no one really did that great. Lots of shorts.
But we had a good time.

Good to see you there Bob. I know you made Adam’s day.
If I didn’t think Bill (Limitout) would see your post, I’d probably leave it as is…lol but for the record, he and DW weighed in the 9+ fish and we had 2nd with an 8+.
Congratz Bill! sounds like you guys had the most keepers caught that day as well.

Yep, that would be me. I was the old bald headed fart with scraggly grey goatee.

Hey guys, DW and I had a great time…it’s the first one we had ever fished and you know the old saying…“we’d rather be lucky than good!” Stumbled on a bunch of fish in Bear Creek and stayed with’m for several hours…caught our limit but only put 9 in the boat hoping for that really good fish. Rob really knows how to put the feedbag on after the weight in…good times for everyone…thanks Rob for the invitation!
