Sat 5/8 bushy

Put in around 7am with a couple dozen mud minnow and headed out towards the first spot. Passed a little gator on the way out (I don’t mind seeing small gators , because that means the big ones are probably not around). Get set up and put one minnow on the bottom and one on a float. Nothing. Went further up the creek. Nothing. Began drifting with the slow outgoing dragging my two minnows. Finally picked up a nice little red (18"), whew no skunk! Made it a bit farther and picked up a 15" red. Nothing for the rest of that creek except another gator.

Went back to the Cooper and decided I would cross and work the far shore. Big mistake. Crossing was a breeze with a quartering tail wind. The opposite shore had a nasty head wind, ripping current, and some decent waves. So I just paddled my way back towards the landing (I did pick up a little bluefish though). Once back in the landing cove, I picked a very small creek and worked way back in as far as I could go. I slowly worked my way back looking for deeper (3-4’) holes around bends. I stopped and tossed a minnow on a float towards one such hole and was rewarded with a little red, followed by two more. I was planning on letting them all go, but the last one swallowed the circle hook and was bleeding pretty badly. So he became lunch.

On the way out I picked up a 10" flounder and passed 3 more yakkers.

All in all, a nice morning on the water.
