Sat 8/16 dive report

Finally got back in the water this past Saturday and did some dives on ledges to check if the grouper were moving back into their fall pattern. They aren’t here yet but the lion fish sure were and Mike cleaned up a ton of them to the delight of my girlfriend who considers them the best eating fish. I tried to take some dive pictures but my camera flooded thanks to a faulty O-ring similar to what has caused problems for NASA. That also meant that all of my other pictures on the camera were lost so all I have to share is this crappy picture from my cell phone. I plan to do lots more lion fish trips before the fall so hopefully I’ll get some good pictures to share.
What I am really interested in seeing is the life on ledges before and after we completely remove all of the lion fish and how fast they move back in.

Kill em all, Jordan.

By the way, I recently watched an episode of Bizarre Foods that was filmed in Jamaica, I believe. They were diving/catching those Lionfish and said they were destroying the local reefs there bigtime.

Maybe you can find the episode online and watch it. Sorry to hear about the NASA O-ring:face_with_head_bandage:.

Planning on going deep friday, but no diving for me unless I fall out.

Good luck, but I’m not sure how anyone can completely remove them.

I was watching a video of a group doing some dives in 215’ of water off of Florida, and the lions were so thick it looked like you kicked an antbed open.
