Decided to catch bait and stick our nose’s out to see what the ride looked like. Passed the end of the rocks around 1045 am and it wasn’t bad at all. Headed on out to some #s in around 90’. Nothing worth talking about there. Ran out to about 120’ and trolled around for a bit looking for the spot. Found it. Not much there worth talking about there either. Ran out to the #s in 130’ where I wanted to be from the get go to find the fish biting well. 1st drop I send down the last live menhadden…bam! Stud ARS that pulled 25lbs on my boga wana be scale thing. Biggest one I have ever seen. Ended up catching several more smaller ARS, stud sea bass and some other bottom feeders. No groupers there this time which is strange because they were all over the same spot a few weeks ago. Oh well, who knows…Regardless it turned out to be another great day on the water. Smoooooth, hudge swells on the ride in at 30kt cruise, cold beer, and a sunset are a great way to end a day…
i think the groupers quit biting because the bottom temp has dropped a bunch. got a brother in law that dove for lobster in west palm fri and the temp in 15’ was 63deg! there has been a major cold water upwelling on the east coast the last week! tropical storm conner?
If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.
I would think that would def affect them…Gotta think like a fish…I gotta work on that
