Went out and fought the wind this am. Put in at the dam and got beat up pretty bad, but finally made it up the lake to Beaverdam. Caught a bunch drifting baits at 40’-45’, but only managed one keeper just barely 23".
May give Bear Creek a try for a few hours in the morning.
Thanks. No didn’t see much bait at all. There was no real concentration of stripers either. The screen was blank most of the time, but we would periodically drift over small groups of fish and pick up a fish or 2 each time we did.
Made it back out again for a few hours this morning (Sunday). Finally some light winds, but the fishing was slow. Drifted DR’s in Beaverdam and Bear Creek. Didn’t see much bait anywhere and very few fish on the surface (got 1 on top water). Wound up with 4 short fish.
Absolutely gorgeous morning on the lake with the highlight of the day being my youngest grandson’s 6 yo friend catching his first 2 stripers ever.
striperskiff,
Thanks again for a great day on the water and the keeper. Glad you and the grandson had a better day today as far as the wind goes. There’s nothing like seeing kids with a fish on. We spent most of the day on the road and got home just a little while ago. Unpacked everything and cleaned the fish. He’ll be gone this time tomorrow.
I’d rather fish than eat.
A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.
Sunday morning was so awesome that we stayed out in the Lake until 2:30 in the afternoon … same deal - no real concetrations of fish (bait or striper) … a few popped the surface here and there in Beaverdam and Eighteen Mile creeks, but mostly we played with the Gars off off Rocky & Beech creeks (you ever seen a 4’ Gar hit a 3" spoon … WOW!!!) and enjoyed the water … that’s the first time we got “burnt” on the lake in a long time - usually we’re on and off too quickly to catch any real sun … LOL …

In God We Trust
That wind was rough, but definately seemed to be the better fishing day of the 2. Next time you’re down we’ll do it again if you want.

it’s my Wife’s fault we HAVE to fish now!!!
Maybe we should have pulled over that way. When I have little kids on the boat I actually would rather be catching gar than little stripers. They’re facinated by them. I think it’s the sharp teeth
