wore them out pretty good. probably caught over 30+fish, everyone was smothering each other in the channel this morning, and there wasn’t a boat within 200+yards of me,
left them biting due to the fact we went through 5dz herring and was one keeper shy of a two person limit. alot of trollers out today. no one seemed to be catching alot of fish except this one ole raggy jon boat
(i am kinda scared to go back to fishing from the scout when it comes back in town) the jon boat has been very rewarding. finished the day with 2 @ 26" 3 @ 22" and 4 @ 18-20" two which were 20 7/8
got checked by the man and he didn’t measure the fish but told me he would have passed the big shorts as keepers just by looking at them after i told him they were short. highlight of the day was while the man was checking the boat over; had a reel scream and up comes one of the big boys. man is wanting to see my liscense but i said i had to get this one in…after it came up i said “sir do you need to measure this one”…lol…he just laughed and told us to have a good day. plain out just had a blast today. lines in at 545 out by 11 i think it was
having trouble remembering my password to get into photobucket but should be able to post some pix this evening or so.
good to see you out there jim. hope you all got on them after we left.
we eased over to number one and started jigging bait. ended up with 3 solid keepers and 2 pecker heads. lost 2 nice fish that hit the sabikis and either broke the hook off or straightened it. Laura lost another good fish - we’re working on the lift and slowly reel-down thing - when she let slack get in the line. it was good to hear the drag sound off a few times. do you still have weekday mornings free? let’s go sometime.
yea still got them off. i don’t go in until one. my buddy and i have been getting on the water lately around 5 and coming off around 10.

this is what the first 22" fish did to us. lol. thought we had monster after ge tangled 4 rods.

and of course old faithful, not the prettiest but will get you there and back and bring in some fish.

Nice fish Murray…I didn’t realize that was you in the jon boat when I stopped by the towers in the late morning. I should have just given you what bait I had left since it wasn’t doing me any good. Had a couple of friends that were out yesterday morning that did well too. I must be the only boat on the lake yesterday morning that didn’t catch any keepers.
Jim, good seeing you out there.
Anyone fishing Richards tournament in a few weeks? I was thining that was an odd time for a tournament with the fish normally pretty stresed out by then, but they seem to be in good shape so far. Maybe we’ll get a pass on a fish kill this summer.

kinda like old times at the towers. good to see you too, Tim. we will be fishing Richard’s tx. Chip, I didn’t hear the phone when you sent the message - thanx, dude. we fished friday nite, also and only had a couple little ones. a couple of buddies running sodium lights did pretty good on legit keepers.
I saw what looked like quite a few guys with sodium lights out there Fri nite…what happened to the hydra glows? was that just a fad? seems like the big thing was always sodium lights…then hydra glows… and now back to sodium lights again

were you using free lines or down? i thought about going sometime this week but dont know if i wanna use the down lines or free line it.
stiperskiff: for some reason i thought that was you, i have never met you but something said “i bet that it him”…lol…i am thinking of fishing richards, but haven’t decided yet and haven’t seen what the details will be.
bcastin: all fish on drs, fish were as everyone knows were caught anywhere from 50 and deeper. also had alot of reaction bites. hadn ‘t got a bite in 10min or so i would drop down 10feet or so and reel up 40’ then drop in back down and do it again, they would hit it on the drop or the rise. awsome feeling getting a hook up like that, kinda felt like snapper and grouper fishing…lol…straight down and then BAM pole doubled over…lol…
jim: i would love to go. i really want to learn more about jigging this bait up. i have done it with sabiki rigs in the ocean but never on murry. got one pole in the garage ready for a set up since it got replaced by an okuma.
thanks for the input. i’m prob gonna try some morning this week.
I went out friday night and only caught two short ones. I went back out this morning and got a 24" and a 22" keeper and 5 shorts. First time I got two over 21 in quite a while. I started at Spence and fished the channel towards the dam. Every time I would get ready to leave I would get one so I just kept drifting.
