For those of you who melt in the rain, you missed out. I dodged a few raindrops and made it to an ole’ faithful flat. Big tide tonight so the grass was pretty flooded. The best tailing was actually about an hour to 1.5hr before the peak. Saw plenty. Managed to convince 4 or 5 to take. 24-28in range. They were an amazing golden color, something I’ve seen before at this particular place. Not that sorta washed out bronze you see sometimes but instead a vivid golden bronze. Shoulda taken a picture but all I had was the cellphone. Oh well, another time.
gear - 9/10wt custom Beulah rod, TFO Hayden reel, Wulff line, seaducer style fly with a grizz neck and rabbit tail and a mono weedguard. Nuthin special…they were pretty willing.
Should be doable again tomorrow fellas…

Yea good for ya, we got to a flat I dig saw 3 tails come up and freakin biblical rain unloaded on us waited it out, then hit another flat quick on the way in till dark saw 2 for a second only cast to one, nothin doin
If it swims throw a fly at it!
Sounds like you had a great evening of fishing. I managed to get one to eat Saturday…had opportunities at a couple of others but no takers. The wind was the issue where I was. Went out Sunday evening to another spot, saw about 2-3 fish, all in deeper water. I was only able to cast to one, and the grass was so thick I couldn’t get the fly down. Here is a picture of the one from Saturday:

Tried the same flat on Sun nite. Significantly fewer tailers and no takers. There was very little wind and I personally think that the rough weather on Sat put them in the mood whereas Sun didn’t have the barometric persuasion.

lightinig all around me sat.
we stuck it out!(thats what life insurance is for i guess)
easily saw 15, hooked 2 - never cleared up except the last 1/2 hour of incoming
this was a new flat to me so i’m glad we stayed the duration
got pretty scary at times, but i had a cold beer in my hand(i heard it acts as a lightning repellent:wink:)
