Finally got my brother and step brother to fish with me, Chad and Jeremy. I told my brother to “count on eight dolphin and maybe a wahoo or two.” Rolled outta Dewees around 5 and cruised 24 kts to the 300 line on the ledge jamming to UB40 and poppin’ some frosties. Deployed the spread after the usual hot AJBS and the bite didn’t start until we cranked up ACDC’s “Hells Bells” (Y’all may have heard it -I played it over channel 65 briefly… by accident.)
Had non-stop dolphin all morning. After about a dozen, trolled out to 300 feet and picked up a few more. Trolled back into the ledge in 74.5 degree, flyer filled waters and picked up about another dozen. These fish were ALL under 50 pounds. Landed a 25 pound wahoo and gaffed a 70 pounder. As the slob was coming over the gunnel, our team lost its footing and the fish fell overboard. I commend myself for restraining the expletives. The anger manangement classes have surely paid off as I almost ripped the steering wheel off its mount. Thank goodness we weren’t in the tournament.“It’s just a fish.”
Cruised home at 33 knots dining on freshly prepared wahoo ceviche(a chef Chad specialty consisting of delicately diced fresh tomatoes, cilantro, purple onions and limes.) OFF THE HOOK GOOD!
Got boarded by the DNR at the new no wake zone at IOP and eagerly offered some freshly caught dolphin. He took the three smallest. Two really cool dudes- one named Ben. Great living in South Carolina!

Nice report and cusine. Glad to see that you have the roid rage under control!
Congrats on your day!
Is it often that you give game wardens fish, or is this a first time thing? Most are not the game wardens of old. I have never tried, but I would imagine that most would view that as bribery. However I will from now on let them have the pick of the fishbox. And congrats on the dolphin pounding.

Sounds like a great day!
It’s always an adventure and something new!

great day. its always fun when you get it done with friends and family on board. i bet that dnr stop sobered things up for a moment, but good on ya for making friends with them. we had a good day also for a crew of 2. that 70 probably would have taken the scssa tourney. by the way we need to partner up on the 2 day scssa in june. talk soon
Not quite a full deck.
They board you, there is no problem, you offer fish = Cool.
They board you, there IS problem, you offer fish = VERY BAD!
Most of these guys got these jobs because they love stuff like that. I used to have one stop by my dad’s place to see if we had maybe scared up a rabbit that he could have. Forgot his real name by we named Wylee…

Mel-
Hope to fish with Jeff and John again. They were alot of fun and nice to have other folks on board to reel in that many fish. The daymaker turned heartbreaker was tough to see, but you handled it well. Jeremy and I both thank you for donating a few fish to DNR- I would not have wanted to clean anymore. Thanks again for the trip!
