Sat/Sun Inshore

Fished the entire falling tide both days on and just off the ICW from the harbor on up past IOP marina.

Never really found any thick concentrations of fish, but it was a pretty steady pick and we had to do alot of moving around. Total for both days was 18 keeper trout with lots more shorts, a couple of short reds, 2 slot reds and a 25".

Reds were all on MM except for the biggest one that hit a 4" red/white paddletail. Trout were about 50/50 on paddletails and TT’s.
Mostly fished the TT’s when in deeper water…real slow along the bottom. Didn’t catch a single trout on MM.

All in all a great weekend to be on the water. Gotta love it when you are fishing a few days before Christmas in T shirts and flip flops!!

I plan on boating there this weekend from IOP marina. Do you fish on the intracoastal or do you go up into the creeks and sounds? What are MM and TT’s? The paddletail is on a jighead? 1/4 oz? 1/8 oz? You cast to the bottom and fish very slowly? Thanks for the tips and Merry Christmas!

TT is Trout Tricks and MM is mud minnows. Fish really slow. A quote from Ralph Phillips, “If you think you’re fishing slow enough, fish slower”

skulldigger, we fish both in the ICW and creeks off…i don’t have time now, but I can PM you tomorrow with a couple of places in the area to get started when you go down there

Had a friend I used to work with years ago here in Columbia before he moved back home. You know a Brian Wilson in Maryville by any chance? Computer engineer and avid runner…probably in his late 40’s by now
