fished with some buddies that I haven’t had a chance to fish with all year. Slow fishing, lots of fun. Tried for the meatfish slam, but got scissor lipped twice. First fish was a nice blackfin, which was the first offshore fish for one of our anglers (maiden voyage for him). All fish caught by the boys. Good times, our veteran 12 year old even shotgunned a red bull and was dancing around n my dreadlock wig. Good times, thanks for the invite.

tuna, king, dolphin…and of course the required Great Atlantic Leaping Barracuda. not many of each.
water temp 83.6, seas less than 3’ at many sseconds. winds puffing out the ENE about 5 knts.

Lots of life shallow on the edge of the first temp break…many little Tunny aka bonito.

I thought little tunny and bonito are different fish - little tunny eat ok, bonito less so.

NAME: Euthynnus alletteratus; common name: little tunny; popular names: bonito, false albacore.

LITTLE TUNNY IN DEPTH: Although little tunny locally are most commonly called bonito, they differ from true Atlantic bonito (Sarda sarda) by having dark spots under the pectoral fin that are not present on bonito.
