Saturday 6-4-16

Looking like its going to be around 3’ at 8 seconds. Anyone else planning on heading out in the morning?

I’m considering taking a run at it. Was wondering what the consensus was.

I saw chop in the morning and chop in the afternoon…

That’s what I’m seeing for the ledge straight out from Charleston.

We’ll be out there

Grady-white 360 Express

We leaving early and headed north

40’ Ocean SS “Jolly Roger”

I’d rather be fishing.

So what am I missing??? I know that I am a rookie, however last time I went out in sort of the same conditions I got the tar beat out of me.

you aren’t missing much. 3’ at 8 seconds is always going to be a borderline forecast for small boats. the extra breeze on the water tomorrow surely won’t help. magicseaweed says beaufort force of 4 and 7 second period, so I’ll be staying on the hill. hope y’all got big boats out there

when looking at reef cast, I’m always sure to use the extra wave info. It’s usually the secondary swell represented by the thin red line that’ll make it unpleasant out there for you, not the thick red one. Notice how there are two swell directions? I’d consider going if I had a big boat, but I don’t so I’m not going.

Was flat to 75’ feet this afternoon. Ran 50 out and in.

I must have took the wrong route then. We decided to just go to the 60 to stay closer and got pounded. Couldn’t make more than 18 kts on the way out. Finally got there and there was nada. Caught 1 grunt all day and said the hell with it. Tried trolling planers in the channel on the way in with some Bonita strips on sea witches in hopes of a king Mack, but again nada.

Check the date on his post Kevin, I think he meant yesterday, not today. I noticed the tree tops didn’t stop moving all day in west ashley so I don’t doubt it was rough out there.

That makes much more sense! I was starting to question my sanity!

Cool video. Thanks for posting.

Man, it sure was zero dark thirty when you left.

I’m surprised no one commented on how rough the harbor was Saturday afternoon. Slop and chop.

Or, that extreme low tide that left all the boats high and dry on the ICW near IOP.

the harbor was a mess saturday!

What about nearshore on Saturday? Please tell me that I made a good decision by not going… Sometimes, that’s the closure that I need.
