Got a late start this morning, fog was so thick you couldn’t breathe. Hit 75’ and dropped lines. Caught our limit on BSBs and got a few white grunts. Sharks got on the lines all day so I finally threw one in the cooler. Had a Cobia circle the boat but couldnt get it to take anything. Headed to the 60 and the boat was ambushed by Cuda and Amberjack. Still couldn’t get anything hooked, either broke the line or spit the hook every time. Overall a great day, water was smooth. Ran 30 mph both ways
Yeah buddy! Won’t be long and you’ll have it dialed in right…this Is getting to be the best time of the year for bottom fishing IMO. Glad y’all got out and got some fish.
See what running just a little further produces, those sea bass will eat better than the ringtails. I think I saw you at the 60, I was on the 240 barge diving. We were the first boat out there this morning after creeping through the fog. The main focus was to get in some diving, but did squeeze in a little fishing too. I did happen to spear me a keeper grouper on the 240 barge, he was skittish and making a run for it so I pulled the trigger right at my max range of 16 ft and nailed him. The wreck was loaded with big AJs today, haven’t seen that many there in a long time. Lots of life on the bottom, plenty of baitfish, ringtails, seabass, spades, a few sheepshead and small grouper. I wish I would’ve seen that cobia though, I would’ve made him eat a spear shaft.
CDT2316, were you in a big sportfisher? If so, I think we saw you guys diving a few miles south of the Edisto Offshore. Glad to see someone got some groupers. Besides some seabass, we caught a few nice red snappers, just a week too late.
What an awesome day, seeing this I really wish we could have hooked up. Next trip out to the IOP I will look you up, need to put some fish in the cooler.
