So, the man sent me a bag of trout tricks last week, and I wanted to try them this weekend. So, I did. Ended the day with an inshore slam of 5 reds, 7 flounder and a trout. The trout and 2 flounder came on trout tricks around a shell bank!!! The rest of the fish all hit finger mullet on the bottom. About the trout tricks, they all hit it before it hit the bottom on a retrieve. Nice reaction bite on them. Thanks for the bag o bait, man. I think I like em so far. By the way only 4 flounder were keepers, and all the reds were over the slot but one little rat that came in at a whopping 9 inches. Good to see the little guys in there. Flounder was awesome for lunch on Sunday. Fed the wife, boys and the in-laws with some left over.
Nice report. Been meaning to get up that way, but have been fishing shell landing the last few weekends just to get into something different. Since in the kayak, I am pretty much limited to cherry grove which wasnt producing my last few trips. I will have to head back up there this coming weekend since the wife is off. Been curious about the trout tricks, good to hear first hand in a local area how they did. Finger mullet on the bottom seems to be the ticket up there, hope to throw some flies once I get on the fish. Thanks for the report (you are the only one who ever reports from there), so really thanks.
