Got out for a few hours this afternoon and the fishing was good. Fished from about 1:30 - 5:00 and caught them on flukes, spooks, poppers and spoons. Lots of topwater, but got the bigger fish jigging spoons around the schooling. All on the lower lake from the dam up to spence/goat.
Nice report Tim. I would not have thought to go out today given the rain in Chapin. That and I felt the need to watch the Gamecoacks lose another game.
I almost went but decided to set up the gizzard tank. I am already a couple weeks behind schedule, another couple days wouldn’t have hurt after seeing that report…ha
“All fisherman lie. And if they say otherwise, then they’re lying”
Actually, I wasn’t going yesterday until passing over the dam about noon and seeing the lake and no rain. I was just hoping to get in an hour or 2. I had to pull out a poncho a few times, but never really rained hard till I was already off the water.
I did learn a valuable lesson though. It is virtually impossible to reel in when using spinning gear and wearing one of those cheap baggy ponchos…Wind was constantly blowing the poncho into my left hand and wrapping around the handle. Looking back, I probably could have put a bungee cord around my waist to keep in from blowing around.
I do have some typical rain gear I bought years ago, but it was a bit too snug when I tried it on before leaving. I didn’t realize that kind of stuff shrinks over time!
On a side note, we were at Ollie’s on St Andrews yesterday morning and they have 6’6" Ugly Stick spinning rods for $16 if anyone is looking.
Riff, I believe it looked like about 8-10. I stopped by work for a few hours and will be passing by there on the way home. If you want any, I can pick up and catch up with you during the week.
I just called up there and they were closed. I will try tomorrow depending on the weather. Thank you and I also need to get with you to turn in my money for the tx

I told my wife to pick me up a poncho Thursday evening because I was heading out Friday morning. It got to raining pretty good so I broke the poncho out and… it was pink… told my wife I look real cute out here with this pink poncho and she thought it was red. Ended up tying a rope around the waist because I could do anything with that thing blowing around. The poncho is now garbage and I now have my rain jacket.

Classic! You got to warn a guy that something funny is coming up. I sprayed my monitor with coffee reading that one.
Reminds me of an Electrical Engineer we hired one time. He was color blind! Anytime he had to troubleshoot any wiring, he had to get a helper to tell him determine the colors. He kept it hid for months. Lesson learned. We now give them a hands on test to determine it because you can’t ask that when hiring someone because it might be considered discrimination. Even if it is a factor in your job. Geez!
