Saturday AM Report

Went out and fought the wind this morning and caught some fish. Stopped at the first spot and marked some fish, but they had lockjaw. Almost decided I would just go in instead of fighting with the wind, but checked another spot and they were hungry. They started schooling shortly after I stopped, but I just stuck with the spoons instead of chasing them and casting with all that wind.

Found fish in multiple spots… picking up 2 or 3 before I would be off them. Took home 5 small keepers to 23", released 1 and had 5 shorts…all on spoons around Johns Creek and Bear Creek.

Nice. I’ve gotta hand it to any man who’s hardcore enough to fish during a lake wind advisory - lol
Did the fish seem to have a preference to any particular depth range?

Fri evening it appeared no matter if we were in 50’ or 80’ of water the few fish we did mark were all between 50’-60’…Did not see the first fish break water at all. Seemed the bait like the the 10-25’ depth…

LOL…It was a N wind and I just fished on the N side of the lake, so it was aggrivating, but safety was never an issue. I was pleasantly surprised how well my 55 lb thrust TM held me in that wind. When I found fish, it was always in somewhere from 50’-70 feet of water. This was taken in Bear Creek:

I have a few hours free this am, so I am going to try something with one of my big spoons. I picked up some large circle hooks yesterday and replaced the treble with a single large (6/0) circle hook. If it works OK I want to keep some for days like today when I am just doing C&R.

Never had 'em under me like that this afternoon but got 5 decent keepers all on spoons. I missed several that knocked 30 or so feet of slack in the line and had one on for a couple of minutes that I couldn’t get off the bottom before he spit it. That was a gooood fish!! It was nice to see Murrymaker back at the ramp too!
