Started off early out of Shem creek with topwater and jerk baits. Nada not even a bite. Did see three big reds swim up and look at my pop R lure but no takers. Time to switch topwater baits I guess . After sun got up good headed out in the harbour to nice grass bank next to the channel and we got swarmed by rays. Caught a few sharks and a blackdrum mixed in but nothing compared to the 7-10 rays we caught. All but 1 were cownose rays and huge ! Had to pull the Anchor twice and had another one pop 40lb powerpro. Did have a 4-5ft shark hanging around the boat but wouldn’t bite anything. At one moment we had 3 rods hooked up and all peeling drag. 2 people on the boat and we managed to land 2…(rays of course) . My partner wanted to keep a couple big ones to eat but I’ve had regular stingray and it’s nothing to brag about. Anybody ever eaten a cownose ray? I’m assuming there the same taste. Still can’t belive how thick they were, couldn’t even keep a bait in the water. One even ate a whole blue crab.
