Started on the rising tide out in front of the SI beach. Things looked promising when I threw the cast net and needed help lifting it into the boat as it had about 300 lbs of menhaden. Unfortunately, there was nothing that wanted to eat any of the bait. Not a single bite in 5 hours of fishing. the ocean was devoid of any life other than menhaden. Thought a switch to sandbar on the outgoing would produce something but Nada. This was the first time tarpon fishing that I have caught nothing at all.
My buddy fished up North and he couldn’t even find any bait. Weird how everything turns around so quickly. Expect the fishing to be really good in a few days
Ditto that. I was out of Garris Landing and spent 2.5 hours trying to find bait. Never did find the right kind. Sucked!
Northeast wind and a falling barometer, the double curse for catching anything in this neck of the woods. For me, its a west wind, rising or steady barometer, incoming tide and all the way through to the last two hours of the outgoing.

Sunday was really tough for me. High tide was smack dab in the middle of my day and being a moon tide made it especially difficult with the fish spreading out. Fished the harbor and the Ashley and only got a trout and a small shark in the harbor. I could have ground out some more bites soaking bait in a few places, but wanted to find new areas. No wind around noon made it miserably hot.
