What a great day. Started out the morning at a little pond that isn’t too far from the house. Caught 4 large mouth on the Beetle Spin. No substantial size to them but fun.
I took a break and got some lunch with a friend and decided to go wade fishing on the low tide. The girlfriend wanted flounder. I’ve been doing good on the flatties this year (number not size) and picked up one within the first couple of casts. He was a small one, so back he went. About 20 minutes later and WHAM…trout hits the lure about 10 feet from me. Muscled him back to the bank. It turned out to be close to a personal best well over 20 inches and FAT. I can’t remember when they are full of eggs, so I squeezed her belly. Nope, just FAT. Threw that one back. Fishing got real slow after that and picked up a sea robin. Then WHAM another trout, hit the lure about 5 ft from me. Just as big, maybe not quite as fat but still close to personal best number 2. Threw him back, the girl wanted flounder. About to call it quits when WHAM, flounder from about 10 feet away. By this time the water is up in the grass and there is no real bank. I muscle him to the grass walking backward. I have no creel, or cooler but a brand new 5 gallon bucket washed up on the previous tied and in he went.
