So decided to fish nearshore division in the Lowcountry Open. Never fished for kings before. We caught a good amount of pogies and ran to 90ft live bottom looking for the big bite. Set the 1st rod. Wham rod goes off before buddy can grab the 2nd rod. Ended up being a small guy but good to have a fish in the cooler by 8. Trolled for about 30 mins and both rods go off. We think the same fish hit both. Smoked the reel. After a solid 20 minute fight pulled up a stud. Caught 2 more and lost 1 at the boat. Big fish weighed 33.2lbs. Eventually I think we finished in top 10. Not bad for our first time chasing them.

Nice job. A 33# King is a really good fish any day

Great Job ! It’s just a lot of fun isn’t it !!!
We were just a bit shy of yours but did get to weigh a fish. Was a beautiful ocean and a great bite all day. Friday/Saturday total for us was 17 fish - Friday we caught one that would have won, let him live to be caught again.
