Saturday Morning

What a nice day. Capt fished in the MSC Ladies Tournament today and had a great time which was followed up by a spaghetti dinner hosted by the club. She didn’t win, but at least she had fish to weigh. Picked up 2 at the mouth of the creek going into LHM in 60 feet of water. Both caught on free lines. Had a better one break off at the knot, which concerns me. Went to a 65 foot cut midway between Burton Point and Wessinger and caught four more. Most on freelines. Finally up to Wessinger and fished the open water to its NE where we got another 2. Unfortunately, none were very big, the four biggest between 21 to 23 inches. Saw schools break the water several times, but for very short duration between Burton Point and Wessinger. Saw KW186 on the water who was just throwing artificials at them when they came up. He had at least 2 but I don’t think the size was much.

Congrats on the catch. I was out in the LHM area Thursday afternoon and saw a few fish breaking. They were not enough to really throw into. Fished downline for a bit with no luck. Marked some fish but they would not hit.Maybe I should have tried freelineing.

Went out this am with the Lawcrusher clan and got 5 or 6 on top water and freeling. Started off in Ballentine area, but nothing, so we moved back down the lake and got in some schooling fish. Wish we had got over there earlier.

Think I’m gonna give it a try in the morning before work, head right to where they were schooling and see if I can get my first striper (first any fish) on the fly rod.

Good luck…let me know

We didn’t do too bad for my wife’s first time fishing ever. We put in at the boat club and trolled out around the entrance of our cove into Beard’s Creek and by half way back towards Forty Love she had 4 stripers and 3 gar. We went ahead and headed back to the club at 10:00 to help get ready for the lunch and weigh in. All in all a fun morning and the Warden seemed to have enjoyed herself.

Glad to see you guys got the wives on some fish. I can’t drag mine out there. I think to her it’s about like asking her to come along and join me and my mistress for dinner.

RK, I had forgot I had an early meeting this am, so I didn’t get out. Once I remembered last evening though, I headed out for about 45 min before dark, but did not find them schooling. I got in some good practice casting though.

I had to promise my wife she did not have to touch the bait or the fish. She sat at the helm and told me when she saw arches on the fish finder and picked up the rods and reeled them in when I told her to. It was fun seeing how excited she got when the drag started peeling off. She says she may go again as long as the weather is good. We’ll see.

I’m afraid if the Capt ever learned to bait her own hook, run the boat, and read the fish finder that she’d leave me at home.

The only way I would ever take a mistress is if she had a nicer boat than me and offered to buy the bait!

Have you seen Ladyshrimpkiller on the offshore board? I think she has a line of about 50 guys wanting her to be their mistress.

I was able to get my wife out on the water this past Saturday for the tournament and she was able to do pretty well. She ended up with 7 pounds 9 ounces, and her largest fish weighed in just under 5 pounds. There was a lot of schooling fish early in the morning but most seemed to be small. Thanks to Richy and his wife for providing lunch and running the entire show.

That fish is a lot healthier looking than the ones I caught saturday.

My wife doesn’t fish and I’m fine with that. Have to have at least one escape.

It was great to see some new ladies getting in on the fun this year for the Lady Angler tournament. My daughter Kelsey had a good day as well and hopefully the website and message board will be updated with the results and pictures soon.

I’ve spent about 85% of my life’s wages on fishing, the rest I just wasted…
