Fished 5-815 or so. Caught two on a double hookup at the end of the night, 3/4 of the way up to Spence from the Dam in the channel. Trolling with downriggers. Went over a school like I have never seen on a depth finder before. I think if we would have had 8 lines in we may have gotten 8. One line was a green 3oz parachute with a berkeley gulp on the hook at 55 ft. One line was a berkeley powerbait eel (brown, about 10" long). About 23" and 26". Thought we were going out tonight so we put them back in. Both revived, amazingly…turns out we are grilling out at my house so I am pissed now that I didn’t get to walk in showing off the catch.
Also some great information. I have a stretch 20 that I usually shotgun down the middle way back. Well, since 20’ ain’t doing much this time of year, I put a 3oz inline sinker about 8’ in front. Well, I can tell you that the sucker dives right at 40’ with that setup. How do I know? Cause I tangled it on my 40’ deep downrigger line. ha. Thought I had a fish, but just a tangled line. I was figuring it would only run 30’ or so like that…
So if anyone with no dowriggers wants to run something at 40’. that is the way to do it.
Unfornuately no pictures…I let someone that works for me take my digital over the weekend to take some pictures for work on Monday. Sucks.
I think I’ll be out again tomorrow afternoon though.
