Only 5 fish. We had 3 22 inches or so and 2 squealers. Starting around 7:30, we didn’t get 1 in the boat until close to 9. My usual spots were not working. They would inspect the baits and turn away. What we caught happened over the deep river channel with baits down 36 feet below Spence. Bait was dead in 2-3 minutes no matter where we put it. We quit by noon.
Thanks for the report. 5 is better than 0. Gonna try em myself in the morning and Monday morning will report good or bad. Did you see any fish on the top.
Ditto on the last comment! Never saw anything break the surface i was off the point of Shull Island and out in front of marker #5 at the end of Counts Ferry road. I was also trolling plugs.
I was in a Mako 191. Going again this afternoon… Anyobe got better places?
Fog, Thanks for another fun fishing trip. Right now, fishing the live herring is a lot easier on me than fishing for the green fish. I did manage to get one good fish to test out my antique baitcaster again. I’ve had that reel since 1973 and it still works great. I’m learning all I can from you and hope to be able to try some of your tactics this fall and winter when the striped fish move up my way. They pull a lot better than the white perch!!
