saturday & sunday quickee's - pix

got lucky, fished 3 times this week. already posted friday.

good friend calls sat afternoon, picks me up at dock, chauffeurs me around for 2 hours. nice sized trout blew up and ate spooks on points in main river. hi tide, last 1.5 hrs before sunset. <4’, clear water. steady walk dog cadence.

took son #1 and his bf for a few hours late sunday. got mostly small trout and a few bi catch slot bass on grubs. one 18" trout on lectric chicken. another nice trout on spook. all <6’ deep.

if you’re a noob SW fisherman[i am one too], learn to fish the spook. it’s addictive and [to me] catches bigger trout than plastics.

or just go in the store and get them to show you.

Good stuff, Peapod. I’ve yet to catch one on TW but my girl did, and she loves it. I’ve had blowups, but missed. Haven’t had many of late, though. Wrong place at the wrong tide, I believe.

Sweet, gonna come back down this week on my yak and try for a trout. Have not caught one here yet and would love to do so on a topwater.

Nice report, Pea Pod. Spooks are great but have always been a sort of Achilles Heel of mine because I get bit a lot on the Spooks when I use them, but my hookup-to-hit ratio with them has always been a little frustrating. Lots of explosions, but a few hookups. I used to do a lot of topwater bass fishing, but the mouths of the SW fish don’t seem to inhale it the same or something. I guess it’s a common problem because I hear some folks say they swap out the hooks for better ones, but I’ve never gotten around to trying that. I still keep a couple of walkers with me and cast them when things feel right. Sometimes, it’s worth it just to see the explosions. Thanks for the report.
