Saturday

Had a buddy from NJ in that wanted to go fishing. Picked him up at the airport at 8:30AM. Put in at the Ferry and started looking around a bit. Found a spot in North Santee that wasn’t getting hammered too bad by the wind. Picked up two keeper Trout, a few throwbacks and missed a few due to being distracted trying to show my friend how to fish the area and the techniques. All the Trout were caught on gold sparkle DOA shrimp under a popping cork. Started out with a white glow DOA shrimp which got no hits. One Red on a dead shrimp. Nothing on Mud Minnows. Moved and caught some nice Whiting on dead shrimp on the bottom. Love watching that cork go hauling ass under the water when the Trout take it. Gave him the hot rod and was trying to teach him how to work it while I was throwing a jig. Surprised I didn’t get any hits on the jig. Usually when the Trout are there I can get them with the jig. Didn’t switch up jig colors though and rigged up another rod with the gold sparkle DOA. Not a bad day, I’m sure it could’ve been better with better concentration, the Trout were there.

I couldnt get anything to cooperate yesterday caught small spot tails at the shell banks not even one trout bite. Fished the jetties with nothing but sharks!! argggg…

I’ve had a pretty good fall season so far for reds, but all have been caught on cut mullet this year. None on shrimp. Any idea why? Other than “they ain’t hungry for shrimp” …

Not sure, I’ve caught them on live shrimp. You using live shrimp?
