Best of luck and have fun. I hear there is some good fishing out of Jacksonville

Fishing is tough in the goon thanks to lots of rain and sewage

We are going to have to miss it, have a coaches meeting on Sunday
I’ll be down there with DDOlson - going early Saturday to do a little pre-fishing before the captain’s meeting.
I’m not going to make it. I did prefish a few spots last week in Savannah, Tybee & Thunderbolt - skunked, not a fish seen. I did find both reds (medium to upper slot) and a few trout at the spot in Beaufort where I and a few others fished 2 years ago for the IFA. If i could make it, I’d fish Beaufort. I have yet to catch a single fish in Savannah after 3 years of IFA tourneys and prefishing for them. Good luck against the Florida crew. Is’nt the lagoon almost 5 hours away from Savannah? Hope you get on them early!!
I’m not really going to the goon…

Have not fished the IFA in several years now, did not want to fish an event that allows you to drive three hours to fish a honey hole. Just think it’s against the concept of being a sportsman. Now will tell those about to fish Savannah the fishing has been a bit slow. I can catch trout behind the house most of the time, but last couple weeks it’s been real slow.
Headomg to Savannah in the AM on Saturday with Elgeebee. Will be fishing the local area there.
I bet that DolphinD will be fishing Brunswick again.
You could hit the beach near HHI and pick up the big bulls. It might offset those that run back to FL to fish.

Just got back from Savannah…
DDOlson and I got to Georgia Saturday morning, and did a little practice fishing. The launch we used that morning was useless at low tide, so we ended up stuck out on the water until the tide came back in - the alternative was about 10 yards of pluff mud, then live oysters, then solid oyster shells, then about 40 yards of more mud before solid stuff.
DD saw a red that day - I saw more stingrays and sharks on Saturday than I think I’ve ever seen here in Charleston. Needless to say, we didn’t go there on Sunday.
Today for the tournament, we went out around the lighthouse near Tybee Island and fished around the area. Guys were catching trout around the lighthouse’s rocks on the outgoing tide. Me and DD couldn’t get a good spot so I moved off searching for a red and DD headed off towards the Savannah river to the north. I later rejoined him and we fished an area that looked a lot like Copahee, with numerous oyster mounds.
DD lost a nice redfish around the area…I was working around a mound and got hung up and had to drift over to get free. After I got my lure back, the Pro Angler drifted off the mound and over a trough - there were a couple nice reds swimming not two feet under me. I saw one duck into a deeper area between two mounds and I flipped the lure in front of him and gave it a twitch. He hit it and I got a nice sleigh ride. Ended up being a 27" red…
After I got my pics and released the red, I went off searching for a trout…spent over three hours with no luck getting the trout.
The fishing in Savannah overall was tough. Glad to be back home!
Nice job with the 27" Red. How did the Charleston crew do overall? Were the winning fish from Savannah? Or, did someone charter a private plane and fish in Texas and fly back to Savannah for the weigh in?

Top 4 fished Jax again. Kevin Kappel finished fifth, and was the nest finisher outside of JAX. IFA should change the name to JFA next season. I don’t think I will travel to fish to many more of these if they do not change something.

I have to agree. That was likely the last IFA event I will fish unless they change the format. I would love to see a shotgun start much like the boat tourney. That would put the skill of the anglers to the test and not so much who has the best honey hole.
They should hand out the tokens from 6:00am to 6:30am on Sunday mornings
I agree as well but you need to speak up to the IFA so that they know that the rules are not working. If you do not speak up they might not change.
