Save your iPhone

I was reading the other thread about mobile coverage, and a couple of guys mentioned getting their phones wet. I’ve also learned the hard way in the past that my phone was not machine washable. I got one of these for Christmas and it works great:

I don’t use it daily, just when I am on the water. Your phone will still sink, but if you can get it back, it will be dry.

If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.

Works great for everything except being able to hear or being heard. Had one for a week and tossed it. Great idea, terrible execution.

Mine works great. Have no issues with volume on either end. If you use the speaker, then it works best to flip the charger door open. Mine has held up to some serious abuse, and has been wet and drooled on by my kid. My wifes phone with just a rubber surround has a broken screen and we just replaced her phone last night.

This is on an Iphone 4S. I have heard that they really don’t make anything that will protect the thin glass on the 5 though. Coworker had his in a Lifeproof case and dropped it and the screen still shattered. My kid has thrown mine down on the concrete and still no crack.

I’m a big time Otterbox fan. They came out with a new waterproof case that is more rigger and can take more abuse then the life proof. Plus it’s easier to hear and be herd and they don’t say you’re not allowed to take it off and put it on only a certain number of times.

Otterbox’s warranty is one of the best I’ve ever encountered as well.

I do have friends who swear by their lifeproof but mine sucked. I either had to have the battery door open (which broke off) or take the headphone jack plug out to hear or be heard.

There are a lot of fake Lifeproof Cases, if you pay less than $65, you probably have a fake, the fake ones may look the same but are crap!

the new otterbox looks beefed up. http://www.otterbox.com/iPhone-5-Armor-Series-Case/apl10-iphone-5,default,pd.html?dwvar_color=2T

Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught.

Otterboxes are heavy and oversized for what they do. The dang case weighs as much as the phone. Show me one pair of slacks that you can slide an otterbox into the pocket without looking like a goofball.

Talk about failed execution.

I have an Otterbox, and hate it. I dont care about the size, but the fact that it sags and droops over time. They do warranty it, but you have to take pictures and submit and wait a few weeks for a replacement. In about 6 months, its time to do it again… Speaking of which, time to do it again…

My wife replaced my Blackberry with the I-5. She said I needed to upgrade.( I’d be happy with Dixie cups and string to be honest). At first I was skeptical of the lifeproof case because it " didn’t have all that rubber armor" like my Blackberry case had. Well I’m sold. The Lifeproof case is great. It’s easy to get in and out of your pocket, I don’t worry about getting it wet, etc.

Look at the Seidio waterproof cases for iphone5. It has little dots on the underside of the screen so it doesn’t make complete contact at all times. This means you don’t have that soapy wet look on your screen constantly and the tactile response is better. It’s cheaper than a lifeproof too

I have a Lifeproof case and love it. I took it white water rafting and took several action pictures. I will agree that the charger port door is kind of a pain but easy to get over. for my birthday, i was given a “Life Jacket” that goes over the case that it supposed to float it. its made of some sort of foam, is orange in color, and makes the phone about 4 times its original size because of its bulk. i will not keep the life jacket on it for everyday use but every time i am on the water, better believe i have it on.

Has anyone tried liquipel? My phone is alreay waterproof, but when and if i get a smart phone i am going to give it a try. Even has a 1 yr phone replacement warranty.
