SCDNR Registration Qwershon

Dealer is telling me DNR is running 4-6 weeks behind on sending registration numbers. Does this sound right? Those guys are usually pretty quick with turnaround on most things.

Bought my new boat before Memorial Day still waiting on numbers.

Got my boat first week of June. Still waiting

From speaking to a friend in the enforcement section, they are understaffed and definitely behind.

“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”, but really, who cares?

I went to Ft. Johnson and had new numbers printed there while I waited.

Is this an issue of them not having staff to actually REGISTER the boat in their system? Or is it an issue of printing stickers?

The DNR office in Florence told me that the Columbia office is months behind on their registrations. The Columbia address is the address on the form so everyone sends their registration stuff to them. This, and being severely understaffed has created this issue. They told me to send new registrations to the Charleston office. I looked up the address on the DNR website, mailed my new registration to the Charleston office, and I had my numbers in less than 10 days.

Welp, thanks for the info! Won’t loose any sleep about it. Just keep my bill of sale handy.
