went into my fav chas fish seller today - no small shrimp only medium (previous frozen , non local) and large (frozen local)
I got the prev frozen large local- tasteless and tough.
was that because they were large or because they were frozen.
I thought shrimp were still in season?
shrimp are definately still in season…and you should definately be able to get fresh ones. I know croosbys near me had some because my neighbor bout some yesterday…if you want a large amount…to freeze…carolina seafood in mcclellanville is a good connection…make a trip up…eat a tw grahams for lunch…and ask for joanne when you get to the dock. they will usually give you a better price in 50# quanity or more…might get a friend to split “a box” = 100# with you. there are some nice local shrimp to be gotten right now. Dont settle fo the frozen non local stuff! as far as tough…it could be how old they are and how they were handled…and if they were “dipped” in a preservative as they sometimes are.

My take is call Paul at Sellsfish and listen to what he has to say. You might spend a few dollars more than making the drive to the boat…but he has as fresh as ANYONE else, and he’s our buddy…jus sayin
paul will also tell you that he gets fresh sefood from the village at times too (two docks there…Carolina seafood and livingstons)…but you are right he does sell fresh seafood too . was just saying that buying in bulk form a dock might save some dollars

You are correct Penny…Does this mean I can’t come and steal some nanners from your tree???
sure you can…but watch out for the big cow patty fertilizer underneath them
