I usually fish certain docks and structures pretty hard in the Spring and Summer, when the reds are not schooled up in the amounts they are now. During the winter im usually fishing flats or just low tide in general in a certain area searching for the schools but we are unsable to get to this area in his new boat tomorrow.
My questions is, right now, are they schooling up around the docks or just in any general area. Im fishing some of my regualr spring and summer spots and was hoping to put a friend on some fish, but I don’t usually fish this area in the winter.
Along the same line as my last post, it stands to reason there are more fish holding along main creek docks than the past 3 Febs. as they are definitely lacking in numbers on the flats right now. The fish are acting more like it’s mid to late March instead of early February. Redfish are busted up into smaller schools than normal. Sheeps are abundant and hungry around docks in 8-12 ft. Flounder are being caught and some trout are hitting topwater on main river flats. It’s definitely been 2 polar opposite winters in the low country. I would advise to fish where you would normally fish 6 weeks from now and you should find the fish.
I have found a few school son the flats but the sizes are small even in the front of the schools. Been doing well around docks in main rivers and on docks pretty deep off the beaten path. Holding up realy well on docks tha thave been on bends with deeper holes. And I posted the other day about spooking a school of 20-30 over slot reds in 2ft around a dock.
