Schooling

Is it to early for stripers to be schooling on top? got into a school of them early thursday morning in about 25 ft of water.

Not too early, but generally these are smaller fish. Sometimes though the schools may have larger fish underneath feeding. Stripers will almost school yearround given the right circumastances.

Epic Failure=When everyday, run of the mill failure just won’t do

lot of reports of schooling - mostly shorts - some keepers. saw about an acre of fish come up for a few minutes yesterday evening in the middle of the big pool - couldn’t throw at 'em because it was 1820 and lines in for the tourny wasn’t until 1830. I’m hoping for a wide open fall. caught some decent fish this am drifting free lines and down lines - last night was slooowww, except for bullheads.

Yeah, if you cover enough ground you can spot a school up on top, though usually brief. I was lookin for that school Flatlander…lol. The chop from the wind made them hard to spot though at lines-in.

I’ve spent about 85% of my life’s wages on fishing, the rest I just wasted…

Sunday night there were a lot of gar schooling. They pretty much took all our bait before the striper started hitting.
