I am looking for a small boat and wanted to get some information on a 1996 to 2001 Scout 155 from owners of one. Or owners of a Scout 160 which I understand is the same boat relabeled. I have read that they had issues with the gas tank and many have had them replaced. I want to get a feel for the boat for inshore creek, flats and river fishing.
Thanks

great little boat
I bought one brand new in 1996 with a Honda 50
it was a bit under powered with the 50
the tank did corrode, we removed it, used a portable tank, installed a floor access hatch, and had great under deck storage.
very stable, handles a chop well, I gave it to my dad and we repowered it with a used 70 Johnson 2 stroke, and that was the perfect size motor for that boat. he sold it about 5 years ago. only 2 things I didn’t like, bow cleat catches a cast net sometimes (needs a pop up cleat) and no separate anchor locker.
Chris,
Thanks for the info on the 155. I am looking for a 15 to 16 foot boat for my sone who is in the coast guard, i have looked at a scout 155, a scout 162, and a key west 1520. Of the 3 the scout 162 looks to be the best fit, but hard to find one that is not 20 yrs old.
Do you have any experience with the 99 key west 1520 side console? It is a nice layout for a small boat. But, I have read it is extremely wet.
You have any experience with the 1520 key west?
Thanks

1520 CC is a wet boat. I had one and almost had to stop at every wake. It was the flats model. I have only seen 2 for sale local in the last 2 years. Great layout. I have owned and ridden in the Scout 155 and the ride is extremely good. The 162 is nice too, but make sure it has a 90hp on it.
