Scout 210 opinions

I have someone that is looking to trade a 2005 Scout 210 plus cash for my “rig.” I don’t know a ton about Scouts, but I hear they make nice boats. I am coming from a 26 Reg and I don’t fish anymore so I am looking for a “cocktail” cruiser that I can take nearshore on occasion.

Thoughts on this model? How is the quality and ride? Does stuff rattle on it after a while? It has a 150 4 stroke. Price is $30k.

I have a 2006 205. I believe its the same hull. Very nice ride, fit and finish. Haven’t had any trouble out of mine. I’m going to sell mine also, just so I can upgrade. I sticking with a Scout, but looking at a 24 or 26 footer.

Love my 221 Scout Winyah.

Is the 210 closer in size to the 205 or 222? Seems more like the 222, but I haven’t been on any of them. Only thing I don’t like about the boat are some of the plastic latches. I will never understand why any boat manufacturer puts plastic hatches. Medal looks so much better and it can’t cost that much more. That will be my first upgrade if everything works out

How are the scuppers? With 4 people on board are my feet going to get wet. I was fishing inshore on a Sea Hunt this past weekend with wet feet all day b/c of the poor design of the scuppers…drove me crazy.

Scouts are well designed boats. My scuppers work great. I do not have any plastic on my boat especially the latches.

I have the 2000 202 Dorado. You’re right about the latches. Had to replace one a fews years back when it busted from a “larger” crew member that was sitting on it in rough seas going out to the 60. Also, when the little rubber scupper covers get some dry rot in them, they will definitely let in some water when drifting in decent seas. I got some plugs from Lowe’s that I put in when needed. All in all, it has been a very good boat. They have outstanding customer service, as I had to get the fuel tank re-attached when it separated. Fortunately, I noticed it before it sheared off the water intake for the live-well (was about 1 in. away). They fixed that and repaired some other minor things free of charge at the plant in Summerville. They stand by there products.

I’ve had 9 people on my boat, many in the stern and didn’t get any water in the boat. Of course my boat is an 08 so my rubber scupper valves are still new. Scout did provide some large plugs that easily slip in and out to prevent water from entering, so apparently it’s a problem, and that seems to be their “patch” to fix it. I haven’t had a need to use the plugs yet.

A friend on mine has a 210, and it is a fantastic boat–perfect for a cocktail crusier. The layout is great; there is a ton of seating with full benches across the stern and a nice cushion set up front. The one I rode in had a F225 on it and would run over 50 mph, but I don’t know how an F150 would push it. Price seems pretty good depending on how it’s optioned out.

Thanks guys for all the tips. Sounds like the boat is what I expected. I really want a 23 Reg, but I am ready to move down to something smaller and this seems like a nice fit until I get more time to go offshore again.
