caught sheepshead, bsb, bluefish, porgy, redfish, and amberjacks. the weather was awsome, ocean was beautiful.
i’m not fortunate enough to live on the coast, but like to get down and fish as much as i can. i live on lake murray and go out for stripers alot, but prefer the saltwater. if anyone wants an extra hand sometime and is willing to have a newbie along to learn give me a shout. i can share gas cost and bring the beer!

Scout, good job on the fish and it was a great day out there for sure. I was the boat beside you in pic #3, Seafox w/green hull. I don’t know about you but my arms are still tired from fighting those Ajs. I finally stopped trying to catch them, my buddy who was with me had never caught one before and didn’t realize how strong they are. Afer his second one he didn’t want to catch another one. I think I boated about ten and hooked another, who knows how many , they were cutting me off on the reef until I added the heavy mono leader. We caught a couple of nice triggers,a few yellowtail snapper, b-liners and of course porgies. We did hook something real nice on the bottom, maybe a grouper, but it cut us off before we could get it off the bottom. I go out every chance that we get good weather like that so give me a shout if you ever need a ride out or need riders to help with gas, bait, etc.
I forgot to add on the way in we spotted a huge school of spanish mackeral feeding on the surface. We got close to them and started casting Clark spoons to them and they were tearing them up. As soon as it would hit the surface 10 fish would try to attack it. We followed the school for about 30 minutes and boated plenty but only kept about 10. Its so much fun to cast to them on the surface using light tackle. Almost every one we caught had a mouthful of glass minnows when we brought them into the boat, they were just down right feasting.
i would like to get out with you guys soon. i saw the spanish on saturday too. i think there were some blues mixed in. i caught some of the blues friday evening, but couldn’t get the spanish on saturday. didn’t have any clark spoons, but will next time. i got out on lake murray last night and found some very large schools of stripers holding between 30 and 60 feet off of bomb island in 100ft of water. i caught one on a troll, then stopped over the school and jigged down with light tackle and a diamond jig. i caught 3 keeepers, and it was a lot more of a fight than catching them on the troll. give me a shout next time you guys are ready to get out fishing!

Next time you run across spanish like that stock up. They are EXCELLENT bait! Freeze them whole or cut them into strips and vacuum seal.
Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!
